How can I achieve that? 'Face Right' won't cut it because direction the character comes from may vary. But I want the player to face the character who walks up to them. Thank you, through this I was able to learn how to animate the once static doors :) I have another question, irrelevant to the thread, but, what is the easiest way to make the player face an event? I would like a character to approach the player, and start a conversation with the player.

In reality your doors and chests DO face 4 different ways, it just shows Chest and doors do not turn around like that, but sprites can still be used to animate them. RPG Maker MV's editor is unable to allow for custom traits/properties that a game dev may wish to associate with a database object, event, map, etc. So if you play around with the movement route, with a character, or a 4 directional item, it will make more sense. On the flip side, if the skill has 3 turns and the Skill Type Cooldown would set for 5 turns, then the cooldown would be changed to 5 turns instead. Hint: The buttons in your move route editor, are in the same order (top top bottom) as the images on your sprite: So it goes top row to bottom to open, and bottom row to top to close it up again.

If you put a character sprite in place, you'll see the one on the top row (where the closed chest would be) looks down, and the bottom row (where the open chest would be) looks up. The reason why open is up, closed is down, and in between there is left and right, is because of how the sprites are set up.
